Annual Small-Business Day at the Capitol event has become a must-attend for key policymakers

DENVER --  Gov. Bill Ritter, Speaker Andrew Romanoff and Senate President Peter Groff will address a gathering of small business owners from around the state on Tuesday, March 11.

This will be the second year in a row that the governor and speaker have marked their calendars for an opportunity to lay out their visions for a healthy entrepreneurial climate in Colorado and to listen to questions and concerns from the small business owners of the state who employ the majority of working Coloradans and generate almost all new jobs.

"It is important that all small business owners have an opportunity to know what is going on inside our Capitol that is going to have an effect on the way they do business," said Tony Gagliardi, Colorado state director for the National Federation of Independent Business. "So important have our annual Small-Business Days at the Capitol events become that at last year's, the governor promised us 15 minutes and wound up spending an hour listening to the concerns of entrepreneurs and exchanging ideas with them."

Tom Sullivan, chief counsel for the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration will also speak. In addition to Romanoff and Groff, other legislative leaders have requested time to meet with the gathering.

The Small-Business Day at the Capitol event is open to all small business owners in Colorado, whether or not they are NFIB members. The cost to attend is $15 by March 7, $25 after. The price includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Reservations can be made online or by contacting NFIB Member Support Manager Tyler Nifong at 303-831-6099. Members of the media are invited to attend compliments of NFIB.
