NFIB Ads Urge Lawmakers to Oppose Bills Harmful to Small Business

Date: May 23, 2017

The state office of the National Federation of Independent Business has launched an online advertising campaign urging Illinoisans to tell their legislators to oppose a host of bills that would hurt the state’s small businesses.

A recent study by the NFIB Research Center found that raising the minimum wage would result in the loss of 93,000 jobs in the state by 2027

“Illinois is running out of time,” said Mark Grant, state director of NFIB. “We’re broke. We haven’t passed a state budget in over two years. We’re ranked as one of the worst states for business.

“Our members believe it’s time for legislators to put politics aside and work together to create an environment that encourages businesses here to expand and to create jobs,” Grant said. “This year’s legislative session is almost over. House and Senate leadership has to stop playing games and reach across the aisle to fix Illinois’ economy.”
