Melissa Teves Pavlicek

Melissa Teves Pavlicek is a principal with her husband, Stephen Teves, in the state and local legislative advocacy firm Hawaii Public Policy Advocates, LLC. She is admitted to practice law in Hawaii and the federal courts. She graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii (J.D.); University of Hawaii (B.A.) and Baldwin High School in Maui.
Her government affairs experience includes serving as a committee clerk in the Hawaii State House of Representatives, Rep. Robert Bunda (1987); as a legislative aide for the Hawaii State Senate, Sen. Donna Ikeda (1992 - 1993); legal extern, Honolulu City Council, (1995); State Legislative Women’s Caucus (2000 - present); co-chair Democratic Party of Hawaiis Women’s Caucus (2001 - 2002); member Breast Cancer Treatment (Legislative) Coalition (2001). She has received the Governor’s Kilohana Award for Volunteerism (2000); Girl Scout Council of Hawaii Community Benefactor Award (1999); and served as a governor’s appointee to State Dental Board (1998 - 2002); governor’s appointee to the Aloha Tower Development Board (2004 - present); and as an ILWU journalism intern (1986 - 1987).
She presently serves on the governor’s executive steering committee for the International Women’s Leadership Conference as the vice president of the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and as a board member of the Hawaii Justice Foundation.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Pavlicek worked for seven years as a public relations professional in Hawaii and California.
