NFIB Legal Expert to
Testify on Need to Strengthen Regulatory Flexibility Act
Washington, DC (April 27, 2016) – Federal agencies are increasingly ignoring an important federal
protection for small businesses, the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA). Beth Milito, Senior Executive Counsel at
the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Legal
Center, will testify in front of the Senate Small Business Committee about how
federal agencies are gaming the process to hide the true effects of regulation
on smaller firms.
“Small businesses today are drowning in a
regulatory avalanche, trying to wade through new regulatory requirements with
even more mandates on the horizon,” said Milito. “Major rules like the EPA’s
Waters of the U.S. rule and Department of Labor’s overtime rule are failing to
follow the letter and spirit of the Regulatory Flexibility Act. For too many
agencies, the RFA process is a box to check and not an opportunity for
constructive dialogue.”
Milito’s complete written testimony is
