Washington, DC (April 22, 2016) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading representative of small business owners, is endorsing Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) for reelection at a campaign event in Coraopolis, PA . Toomey has a strong record of standing up for small business in the U.S. Senate and should continue representing the people of Pennsylvania.
“We’re grateful that Senator Toomey is working in Washington to keep small businesses in Pennsylvania healthy and growing,” said NFIB CEO and President Juanita Duggan. “For many years, the Senator has worked to make small business expensing a permanent part of the tax code, an effort that finally succeeded last year. Small business owners need exactly this kind of stability from government if they are to grow and create jobs.”
Toomey qualified for an endorsement from the NFIB by achieving a high rating on votes scored in the current Congress. The list of scored votes is available here.
“Senator Toomey knows what it takes to run a business because he owned several successful restaurants in the Lehigh Valley and Lancaster,” said NFIB/Pennsylvania Executive State Director Kevin Shivers. “He knows what it takes to meet payroll and he has direct knowledge of the many challenges small business face every day. Senator Toomey is a passionate ally for small business in the US Senate. That’s why Pennsylvania small-business owners are working hard to send him back in November.”
Toomey’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee. Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities.
