Congressman Gets High Marks from National Federation of Independent Business

Washington, DC (April 19, 2016) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading representative of small business owners, is endorsing Rep. Bill Shuster (PA-09) for reelection. Shuster has a strong record of supporting legislation that would help small businesses grow and thrive and should be returned to the U.S. House.
“Small business owners know Bill Shuster understands what it takes to meet payroll because he did so himself as the owner of a car dealership,” said NFIB/Pennsylvania Executive State Director Kevin Shivers. “Rep. Shuster is an important small-business voice in Congress. At a time when small employers are being deluged by a tidal wave of burdensome regulations, Bill Shuster is a proven leader willing to beat back the bureaucracy.”
“The federal government is making it harder and harder for new small businesses to be created and for existing ones to survive because of a constant barrage of burdensome red tape regulations,” said Congressman Bill Shuster. “As a former small business owner I understand what our businesses are going through, and I also know how important they are for our local economy. I appreciate the NFIB’s support in this election, and I will continue working to provide a voice for our small business owners in Congress.”
Shuster qualified for an endorsement from the NFIB by achieving a high rating on votes scored in the current Congress. Shuster earned 100 percent on the 13 votes NFIB has monitored so far. The list of scored votes is available here.
“Congressman Shuster is a strong voice for small business in the U.S. House,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “On every critical issue that NFIB was watching in this latest Congress, he has voted for small business owners. Small business needs strong defenders in Washington and Congressman Shuster deserves to be reelected to continue the fight.”
Shuster’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee. Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities.
