Another Unique Feature of the NFIB/Ohio Workers' Compensation Programs
As you may know, NFIB/Ohio partners with CareWorksComp to be the administrator of all of our workers’ compensation programs. One of the primary focuses in each of our programs is to help prevent workers’ compensation claims from happening. One of the best ways to help stop workers’ compensation claims from happening, is by utilizing our Safety Consultants.
Through our partnership with CareWorksComp, our Safety Consultants provide the following valuable services to our members:
- Safety Audit/Visit – Upon request, our Safety Consultants can visit a member’s business and provide a thorough safety audit. During this audit, the Safety Consultant can provide tips that may help prevent future incidents. The Safety Consultant can also point out potential Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations so that they may be corrected before a penalty can be issued.
- Safety newsletter articles – Each quarter of the year, our Safety Consultants write articles regarding new OSHA regulations, industry-specific safety tips, and Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) safety and grant program updates. These articles can be found in our Safety Visions publication.
- Safety Training – Our Safety Consultants conduct an average of two safety training webinars every month. All of these training sessions provide our members with extremely useful tips on information about how to make sure your business is as safe as possible. These safety training also fulfill the two-hour BWC safety training requirement for employers who had a claim in the “Green Year.” Every year, NFIB/Ohio also hosts in-person safety seminars across Ohio in the spring. Training is conducted by our Safety Consultants at each location and session.
- Safety Consultation/on-site training – Our Safety Consultants can provide safety consultations via phone call or by scheduling an on-site meeting. Our Safety Consultants can provide information about starting or enhancing an employer’s safety program, improving safety culture, the financial benefits of safety improvements, as well as help set up safety goals. Our Safety Consultants can also conduct on-site safety training such as first aid and CPR, as well as various other safety topics like workplace violence or machine guarding.
All of these services are available to members participating in our NFIB/Ohio workers’ compensation group rating program, group retrospective rating program, or Select Program Plus.
