The NFIB/Ohio member activism program was busy during the
second quarter of 2014 holding 12 separate Area Action Council meeting across
the state bringing small-business owners together with their members of
The round of meetings kicked off in Greenville, Ohio in a
joint meeting held with the Darke Chamber of Commerce that featured Speaker of
the House John Boehner. Leadership
Council member Ty Baker-Baumann introduced Speaker Boehner to a crowd of 200.
The 11 additional meetings featured Congressmen Steve
Chabot (Cincinnati), Jim Jordan (Sidney, Lima & Norwalk), Bill Johnson
(Marietta & Steubenville), Bob Gibbs (Canton), Jim Renacci (Akron), David
Joyce (Lake-Geauga), Steve Stivers (Columbus) and Pat Tiberi (Columbus).
Issues discussed at the meetings included:
- The current IRS and VA problems;
- Energy and Over-Regulations;
- Government Spending;
- and Job Creation
All members of Congress made sure to take time at each
meeting to take questions from the members in attendance. It allowed for some great dialogue as
NFIB/Ohio brought the Ohio Congressional Delegation to members instead of them
having to travel to Washington.
We appreciate the time our small-business owner members
took to attend these meetings and share what was on their mind to help our
members of Congress know what is important to them. Additional meetings with Congressmen Latta
(Toledo & Archbold) and another with Congressman Johnson (Zanesville) are
on the horizon from the month of August.
