IMPORTANT WORKERS' COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Date: July 08, 2016 Last Edit: August 02, 2016

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) made the switch to prospective billing effective for the July 1, 2015, policy year. Due to the fact the BWC is extending coverage before payment, each employer in Ohio must reconcile their actual payroll for the prior policy year, known as the true-up.

The BWC sent out a notice to all Ohio employers on July 1, 2016, with a due date 45 days later (August 15, 2016).  Employers can complete the true-up online at www.bwc.ohio.gov or by calling 1-800-644-6292.  An employer will receive a credit or an assessment based on their payroll difference.

Failure to report actual payroll will result in the employers removal from their current discount program. An outstanding true-up will make an employer ineligible for future discount programs.  Please call Jared Weiser in the NFIB/Ohio office with any questions at (614)221-4107 or e-mail him your questions at [email protected].
