NFIB will be holding a dozen member meetings around Pennsylvania in 2017 for business owners to meet directly with their state and federal lawmakers to discuss concerns. These meetings are helpful because lawmakers leave with a better understanding of their constituent’s small business issues. That is crucial when it’s time for a vote on legislation that affects your business.
Member meetings also allow our NFIB Pennsylvania advocacy team to learn what bills we should track or lobby. Telling your small business stories directly to lawmakers can lead to long-term relationships which come in handy when you need help. They can also have an immediate impact. We had a member meeting this year in which a business owner explained he’d been waiting almost a year for a storm water permit to expand his operation. After that NFIB meeting, the problem got solved in a week!
If you live in one of the counties listed below, or nearby, expect an invitation a few weeks before the date of the event. If you are willing to host one of these meetings and can house about 25 business owners and lawmakers, please let us know. Some of the best meetings take place on shop floors on fold out chairs. Contact information is below.
