Indianapolis (April 23, 2014) – The National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)
today announced its support for
the reelection of Congressman Todd Young
in the 9th Congressional

“Indiana small business
owners couldn’t ask for a more reliable ally in Washington and we are very
proud to support Todd Young for
reelection,” said NFIB/Indiana State
Director Barbara Quandt

NFIB is the country’s
leading advocate for small business owners representing roughly 15,000 members in Indiana.  The group endorses candidates based on their
voting record on key issues identified by its members such as health care,
taxes, labor and regulatory issues.  NFIB
tracks the votes of every member of Congress and Young earned a perfect 100
to date in the 113th Congress.

“On every one of the key
NFIB issues this Congress, Todd Young
stood by Indiana small businesses,”
said Quandt.  “He’s been an extremely
important voice in Washington for small business owners and our members are
very enthusiastic about his campaign for reelection.”

Quandt noted that Young, a
small business owner and NFIB member, sponsored a bill in Congress this year
that would have restored the 40-hour work week under Obamacare.  The health care law redefined full-time work
as 30 hours per week, a change that has roiled the labor market forcing many
employers to reduce hours for workers to avoid massive new costs.  The change has been so controversial that
even big labor unions have lobbied to reverse the damage.

“Some of the biggest
corporations and unions in America have warned that the 30-hour work week is
destroying full-time jobs,” said Quandt.
“It’s an even bigger issue for small businesses that often don’t get the
same level of attention and our members in Indiana are extremely grateful to
Congressman Young for picking up the flag and assembling a bipartisan majority
in the House.”

endorsement was made by the NFIB SAFE-Trust, the organization’s political
action committee.  Surveys show that
small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in Indiana’s 9th Congressional
this year will work hard this year to send Todd Young back to Washington.
