Vice President Pence Meets With NFIB In Central Ohio

His Objective Is To Listen To Small Business Concerns

For the second time in a month, NFIB once again had a seat at the table when Vice President Mike Pence met with small business owners and elected officials in the Columbus, Ohio area, on Saturday, April 1. The meeting covered topics ranging from the rising cost of health care to tax reform. The host business, Dynalab, Inc., has been a member of NFIB for 20 years.

20 year NFIB member Gary James, owner of Dynalab, Inc. welcomes small business owners to the listening session with Vice President Pence, US Senator Rob Portman, and Congressman Pat Tiberi.

Before addressing employees of Dynalab, Inc. in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, the vice president met privately with about 17 small business owners, including 10 NFIB Ohio members. Also attending the listening session were US Senator Rob Portman and Congressman for the 12th District Pat Tiberi, who are both NFIB Guardians of Small Business. 

Tracie Sanchez, owner of Lima Pallet Company in Lima, Ohio, spoke to Vice President Pence about making sure any tax reform undertaken by the Trump Administration included small business owners who were pass-through entities, which makes up the majority of NFIB members in Ohio and across the country.

Kelly Moore, owner of GKM Auto Parts in Zanesville, Ohio, who recently appeared on the PBS NewsHour http://www.pbs.org/newshour/videos/#210677 discussed healthcare costs during their listening session. The rising costs associated with the Affordable Care Act finally caused her to no longer be able to offer a package to her employees as of Decembre31, 2016.

Mary Leavitt, the owner of The Flag Lady’s Flag Store in Columbus, Ohio, made moving comments regarding bringing manufacturing jobs back to America and the importance of patriotism, which earned a round of applause from her fellow business owners and elected officials present.

The Ohio entrepreneurs told the vice president and other elected officials at the meeting about issues like over regulation that make it difficult for them to grow their companies and create jobs. Others members around the table at the listening session included Atlas-Butler Heating and Cooling, City Barbeque, 4 Seasons Air, Tommy’s Pizza, and Thompson Building Associates.group-with-pence-for-web

A great group of small business owners, including 10 NFIB members participated in the listening session.

Vice President Pence praised the entrepreneurial spirit of owner Gary James, calling 20-year NFIB member Dynalab, Inc., the ‘American Dream’ in his address to the larger group.
