Video Launch: Sen. Cornyn Spends “Day in the
Life” of Austin Small Business Owner

(Austin, TX) June 5, 2014 —
The National Federation of Independent Business invited every single member of
Congress to take on NFIB’s
Small Business Challenge
, and Sen. John Cornyn became the first Texan to
accept the challenge when he spent the day with an Austin-based remodeling business
and participated in a roundtable discussion with area business owners.

Sen. Cornyn spent part of his
morning helping
to remodel a residential bathroom
in a north Austin home, later taking a
tour of the business’ warehouse and sitting down to a roundtable discussion
with about a dozen small business owners from the central Texas area.

“I enjoyed getting out of
Washington, as I always do, and spending a day in the shoes of a Texas small
business owner through NFIB’s Small Business Challenge,” said Sen. Cornyn. “It
was a great reminder of the challenges our small business owners face and the
day-to-day operations that are required to run a business and create jobs.”

Josh Agrelius, owner of
Re-Bath of Austin, said Cornyn arrived at the job site and “actually got to do
some of the installation, the labor …. We got to show him a little bit about
what we do and what a customer experience would be like.”

“Having him come here and
actually get dirty with us, that was outstanding,” Agrelius added.

NFIB/Texas Executive Director
Will Newton said he encourages other Congressional members from Texas to take
the NFIB Small Business Challenge.

Texas is the most pro-small
business state in the country,” Newton said. “We’re thrilled Senator Cornyn was
the first to accept our challenge; we encourage others to follow his lead.”
