Texas Workers' Compensation Education Conference

Date: September 05, 2016 Last Edit: October 06, 2016

Workers’ compensation… so many rules, so many forms. How are you supposed to make sense of it all? The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is here to help.

Employers are a vital part of the Texas workers’ compensation system and we want to keep you informed. Kelly Little, an employee development specialist at DWC says, “There are some routine items employers ask us about. One of them is whether or not they need workers’ compensation coverage.”
  • While a majority of Texas employers carry workers’ compensation coverage, it’s not mandatory for most businesses.
  • Even if businesses don’t offer coverage, they must report all work-related injuries or illnesses lasting more than a day to the Division of Workers’ Compensation.
  • Each year, businesses must let the Division know if they provide coverage or not.
  • Businesses must post signs informing employees if they have workers’ compensation coverage.
Interested in learning more? Join us at the Workers’ Compensation Education Conference in Dallas on October 24-25. You’ll hear from presenters like Kelly, about employer rights and responsibilities for businesses that carry workers’ compensation insurance, “We want to help employers understand the benefits of workers’ compensation, because having that coverage helps protect your business assets, especially your most important asset– your employees, ” says Little.

At the conference you’ll also get great information from the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Department of Public Safety, the National Safety Council, and many more.
