Newton Appointed to Small Business Task Force

The Texas office of the National
Federation of Independent Business today announced its executive director, Will
Newton, has been appointed to Governor Rick Perry’s Office of Small Business Assistance
Advisory Task Force.

The task force advises and
assists the Office of Small Business Assistance, governor, lieutenant governor
and speaker with issues that relate to small businesses, and provides
information in plain language to the public on issues related to small
businesses.

Newton is one of three members
appointed by Gov. Perry to the task force for a term to expire June 14, 2015.

Newton is a former legislative liaison for the
Office of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and former director of
governmental affairs for the Texas Restaurant Association.

Newton’s work experience includes stints in the Texas House of
Representatives working for three state representatives and one state
senator.  His experience also includes
work as a clerk for two committees in the Texas House.

He is also a volunteer scoutmaster for the Boy
Scouts of America Troop 454 and past volunteer coach for Austin I-9 Flag
Football and Upward Sports Youth Programs. Newton received a bachelor’s degree
from St. Edward’s University. He and his wife
Beth reside in Austin with their four children.
