Revival of Maryland Business Works will invest in small businesses.

Maryland
Business Works, a program of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation
that has been dormant since 2011, has returned and is offering $500,000 in job
training for small businesses.
Under
the initiative, Maryland Business Works will match, dollar for dollar, an
employer’s contribution toward classroom-based training, in-house staff
training, certification/credentialing classes, apprenticeships, and other
skill-developing workforce development for its existing staff. The funds are
geared toward businesses that have 100 or fewer employees, an expansion from
the program’s previous target of businesses with 50 or fewer workers.
“By
providing businesses with the tools they need to succeed, we are helping
Maryland employers build and expand their talent pipeline while changing
Maryland for the better,” said Kelly Schulz, Maryland Labor Secretary, in a
statement.
