Date: April 05, 2016 Last Edit: April 06, 2016

SALEM, Ore., April 6, 2016—Oregon’s voice of small business today took the first step in its 2016 election activities by endorsing 29 incumbent state lawmakers for re-election. Challengers to the remaining incumbents and contestants in open seats will be endorsed in the coming months.

“The endorsements we’re announcing today are for incumbent legislators only and are based on their voting records on key small-business issues,” said Anthony K. Smith, Oregon state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s largest and leading small-business association with 350,000 members nationwide, including nearly 7,000 in Oregon.  Today’s endorsements were made by the NFIB/Oregon SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB.

“Our committee evaluated the voting records of all Oregon state legislators running for re-election and determined that these 29 lawmakers understand and acknowledge the challenges that small businesses face in our state,” said Smith. “Challengers to those lawmakers not making the grade, and candidates competing for open seats, will be evaluated by our political action committee in the coming months.”
