NFIB Looking Forward to Mutual Cooperation Between Cuomo and Incoming Legislature
ALBANY (November 4, 2014): Today, the National Federation of
Independent Business (NFIB) congratulates all of the pro-small business
candidates that were victorious in the 2014 mid-term election.
“This election was critical to the future of New York’s
small businesses. With ninety percent of
NFIB/NY backed legislative candidates winning last night, we are hopeful that
their campaign rhetoric will be matched by positive support of our agenda.”
Said NFIB/NY State Director Mike Durant.
“Small employers in New York continue to face daunting challenges and
complex problems. In January, a clear
majority of pro-small business lawmakers in the State Senate must begin the search
for sensible and necessary solutions.”
Businesses tend to locate where the competitive advantage is
greatest, according the Tax Foundation, a bipartisan organization that recently
ranked New York 49th out of 50 for its tax climate. Small businesses
suffer the most under burdensome tax systems and NFIB has been calling for a
major overall of Albany’s policies since Cuomo became Governor.
“While we congratulate the victors in statewide races, we strongly
urge Governor Cuomo to seize on this opportunity and push for broad economic
and tax reform.” Continued Durant. “Small
business can no longer be left aside as Albany works to build New York’s
economic present and future.”
