A $15 Minimum Wage Hike for Boston?

Should Boston city leaders raise the minimum wage to $15?

That’s the question being hotly debated after the city’s mayor called for a study of the proposal.

In his State of the City Address last week, Mayor Martin J. Walsh said the city should weigh whether such a measure would benefit the city.

“We’ll take the conversation about inequality one step further,” Walsh said. “We’ll bring workers and employers together in a task force to study a $15-an-hour minimum wage for the city of Boston.”

Such a move for a regional economy like Boston would require support from the Legislature.
