Small Business Strongly Supports Workers' Comp Reforms

Date: March 08, 2017

The following statement may be attributed to Mike Durant, State Director of NFIB, in response to the Workers’ Compensation Reform effort.

“As budget negotiations are set to start in earnest, it is imperative that lawmakers work to reduce the significant costs associated with workers’ compensation in New York. Our state has the third highest workers’ compensation costs in the nation, with employers paying nearly $10 billion annually. Implementing real reform will reduce costs for business and provide necessary mandate relief for our schools and municipalities. This is a tremendous opportunity for lawmakers to change the small business narrative and restore confidence. We strongly support the coalition effort and reform package as proposed and urge the Governor and both houses of the legislature to act this budget season.”
