PROVIDENCE (May 17, 2017): The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) named Chris Carlozzi as their new State Director in Rhode Island today. NFIB, the state’s largest small business advocacy group, said that the personnel change will take effect June 1st.
“I have had the privilege of working closely with Chris for the past nine years in his role as Grassroots Manager, and I could not be prouder to see him take this next step in his career,” said outgoing Rhode Island State Director, Bill Vernon. “Chris’ dedication to the priorities of our small business members and his ability to advocate on their behalf makes him the obvious choice to take over upon my retirement. Although leaving is bittersweet, knowing that the organization will be in his very capable hands gives me tremendous peace of mind as I make the transition.”
Vernon has been employed by NFIB since May of 1999 while Carlozzi has been with NFIB since 2008. The two plan to spend the next few weeks transitioning Carlozzi into his new role. As Grassroots Manager for the New England states, Chris has learned first-hand what issues most directly impact small businesses. He intends to use his knowledge base to continue to give voice to the most vulnerable employers in Rhode Island, small business owners.
“Spending the past nine years working hand in hand with our members has been a tremendous learning opportunity for me. From creating educational programs to raising awareness amongst small business owners regarding issues vital to their survival, I have been dedicated to involving members in the legislative process at all levels,” said Chris Carlozzi, incoming Rhode Island State Director. “Thanks to Bill’s hard work, NFIB’s name is synonymous with tireless advocacy and activism among our members. I look forward to continuing to fight for small businesses with as much enthusiasm as Bill has.”
Vernon has been mentoring Carlozzi to ease with the transition and has received the full support of NFIB staff as he begins his new role.
“During his tenure at NFIB, Chris distinguished himself among his peers and became the obvious successor to Bill,” according to Tim Goodrich, NFIB Public Policy North Regional Director. “We will certainly miss having Chris as the Grassroots Manager for New England, but I have no doubt that as State Director, he will influence policy on the Hill and strengthen our relationship with lawmakers.”
