U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis was the keynote speaker at the 2017 NFIB North Carolina Small Business Day at the Capital, held April 12 at the City Club Raleigh.
Tillis thanked NFIB for being a strong advocate for small business.
Tillis told the crowd of about 120 that Congress will continue to work to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. He also spoke favorably of new U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. “He’s a quality guy,” Tillis said. “He’s going to make a great Supreme Court justice, and I think he could very likely will go down in history as one of the great ones.
In his introduction, NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson called attention to a photograph Senator Tillis tweeted earlier this year of him and Gorsuch in Tillis’ Washington office. On the table between them, next to Gorsuch, is Tillis’ NFIB Guardian of Small Business award.
“That was tweeted everywhere, so, Senator, we appreciate what you do for small business and appreciate the little plug for NFIB there with the justice,” Thompson said.
“It’s still there,” the senator assured him. “It wasn’t posed.”
