Lawmakers are returning to their constituents, reassuring them that soaring healthcare costs remain a priority amidst a sometimes-muddied agenda. Rep. Steve Chabot joined Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon to address a group of business owners from both Ohio and Nebraska about their priorities after a shocking healthcare vote, reports Live Well Nebraska.
“The bottom line is nobody knows for sure how this is going to be handled,” said Chabot about the future of health care, according to Live Well Nebraska. During the meeting, Chabot indicated that the plan to fine-tune any modifications to healthcare fell apart after the vote to repeal the ACA failed.
“I’ve heard loud and clear in the last seven months what (small-business owners’ concerns) are: Folks are having a very hard time paying their healthcare premiums if they’re on the individual market,” said Bacon according to Live Well Nebraska.
Both congressmen also indicated at the meeting that they are focused on reducing burdensome regulations and working on a comprehensive tax reform program. The White House has indicated that tax reform is the next major piece of legislation on its agenda, and NFIB continues to press lawmakers to address the issue.
