NFIB Illinois hosted a small-business roundtable with U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood in Springfield on Friday, Sept. 1. Topics included tax reforms and efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Representative LaHood told small-business owners that federal tax reform is long overdue. He pointed out that the federal tax code hasn’t seen any permanent changes in over 30 years. Members asked LaHood for small businesses to be taxed at the same rate as large corporations.

LaHood also voiced frustration over the inability of Congress so far to repeal and replace Obamacare. Members expressed concerns over soaring health insurance costs making it harder for them to grow their businesses and create jobs.

NFIB hosts a number of events with state and federal lawmakers around the state throughout the year. To find out about events in your area, visit www.NFIB.com/IL and follow @NFIB_IL on Twitter.
