How Did Your Legislator Vote? The NFIB/Texas Voting Record Rundown

Date: December 01, 2017

As a grassroots organization that advocates on issues that are member-driven, NFIB/Texas believes in transparency and accountability.

As an NFIB/Texas member, you know that you are balloted before the start of each legislative session and that the member ballot results determine the NFIB/Texas legislative agenda for that session. So, when we walk the halls of the Texas Capitol talking with legislators and staff or testify in committee, registering our position on a piece of legislation, we are directly relaying your message, your voice, which should help determine how they vote—with small business or against small business.

Before a vote is taken in both the Senate and the House, legislators are made fully aware the position NFIB/Texas has taken on behalf of small business in this state. Post session, we look at key pieces of legislation and “grade” each legislator on how they voted. We’re proud to say that well over half of the Texas Legislature earned a 100% voting record with small business this session. While every legislator claims to be pro-small business, we let their voting record do the talking. Be on the lookout for the 2017 NFIB/Texas Voting Record to hit your mailboxes and in the meantime you can also view the online version.

Continue to let us know what we can do to help you own, operate, and grow your business in the Lone Star State. The 2018 NFIB/Texas member ballot is your next chance to help structure our priorities for the next legislative session.
