NFIB/FL joins opposition to Florida Workers’ Comp State Supreme Court Case
NFIB/FLorida have signed on as opponents to a pending Florida Supreme Court case that could impact small business owners.
On Wednesday, justices heard arguments in the case, which centers around workers’ compensation reforms made in 2003, and aimed at stemming skyrocketing premiums that were affecting small business owners. Plaintiffs in the case say their benefits have been harmed.
“A reversion to pre-2003 law would only cause the ‘crisis’ to arise again, thereby increasing the costs of insurance, directly impacting the affordability of coverage for Florida employers, and reducing the guaranteed protection of workers for work-related injuries,” according to a brief on behalf of the Hialeah Hospital and Sedgwick Claims Management Services.
NFIB joined other groups such as Associated Industries of Florida and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
