The following is a statement by NFIB/Florida Legislative Director Tim Nungesser on Senate Bill 294, which was defeated today in the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee:
“On behalf of
small business owners across Florida, we thank the Florida Senate for standing up for small business and rejecting this government mandate
that intrudes on the employer-employee relationship. According to an NFIB national Research Foundation study completed this
month, 73 percent of small business owners already provide paid leave to their
employees. While this bill was well intentioned, it does not solve the
needs of Florida’s families.”
