NFIB Applauds Passage of House Workers’ Comp Bill

April 19, 2017 – Below is a statement from NFIB/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle on the passage of HB 7085:

“Congratulations to Rep. Danny Burgess on passing his good workers’ compensation reform bill.

“This bill makes a very serious effort at containing attorneys’ fees, which are the primary cost drivers in workers’ comp cases.

“We’re in month four of the ‘year of rate hikes.’ Over half of Florida’s small business owners have already been hit with the 14.5 percent rate hike – news of this bill’s passage doesn’t come a moment too soon for them.

“Help is on the way for small business if the Senate answers the call.

“We look forward to working with the Senate, and hope they’ll take a close look at many of the great ideas that are in the House bill.”
