NFIB/Florida wrapped up primary election night with a host
of big wins that put us in a good position for the general election in
November. That doesn’t tell the whole story though.
This primary election cycle will go down as one of the
bitterest election cycles in recent history. It featured candidates
spending millions of dollars of their own money, only to get walloped at the
ballot box. It had former friends running attack ads against each other. It had the business community and the trial
lawyers at war with each other in TV ads.
One of the biggest wins for small businesses came in the
form of a Southwest Florida legislator winning higher office by being elected
to the Florida Senate: Rep. Kathleen Passidomo was a tort reform champion for
us for the past few years, earning her the Guardian of Small Business Award earlier this month.
