NFIB Releases 2016 Michigan Voting Record

Date: August 22, 2016

NFIB has released the small
business voting record for the 2016 session of the Michigan legislature.

While the Voting Record does not reflect all elements
considered by a lawmaker when voting, it is a valuable guide to examining a
legislator’s attitude toward small business. Anything above 70 percent is considered a passing grade and the higher
the percentage the more a lawmaker has voted for the pro-small business position supported by NFIB members.

The Vote Record will be distributed to all
NFIB small business members in the state ahead of the November elections as a
guide to supporting lawmakers that have proven they stand by small business
with their votes on bills before the legislature. Although the State Senate is
not up for re-election until 2018, the Vote
Record is an interim scorecard for that chamber to give small business owners a progress report on their state senator.

 Those legislators
scoring above 70 percent on the Vote Record obviously understand the importance
of small business and how vital it is to the state’s economy. Michigan is
back on track to being a great state to bring a business, grow a business or
start a new business and this election will be important in keeping us on the
right path.
