GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES FOCUS ON ECONOMIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR SMALL BUSINESS

CONCORD (June 17, 2016): The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) held a forum this morning where 5 of the 7 candidates for New Hampshire Governor appeared before small business owners. The event marks the first time those seeking the office jointly participated in such an event and it proved to be a lively discussion regarding the direction New Hampshire’s economy is headed towards.

“This morning we heard from New Hampshire small business owners that were concerned about a wide variety of issues including healthcare, minimum wage and tourism. It gave the candidates participating a clear understanding of the obstacles that our small businesses encounter as well as the opportunity to present their ideas to improve our state,” according to NFIB New Hampshire state director, Bruce Berke. “Our audience was certainly not shy about their concerns, but each and every candidate did a terrific job articulating their view points and presenting their solutions for better government.”

Participating candidates were afforded the opportunity to present their ideas and goals to the audience prior to the beginning of a question and answer period. Senator Jeannie Forrester, Representative Frank Edelblut, Mayor Ted Gatsas, former Mayor Steve Marchand and Councilor Chris Sununu spent the morning with approximately 50 small business owners

“Today’s attendees had clearly done their homework and were able to present policy changes to the candidates that would assist small businesses by reducing regulations and loosening the grip that state government has on the day to day operations of their businesses. It was a tremendous opportunity for the participants to interact with the small business sector and learn what sets a Mom and Pop shop apart from larger corporations. We were pleased not only with the turn out, but the candidate’s willingness to understand their plights. On behalf of NFIB, I cannot thank them enough for taking the time to spend the morning with us.”
