The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s and Louisiana’s leading small-business association, said today it has endorsed Judge Marilyn Castle for the 3rd District seat on the state Supreme Court.
“Small business is the engine that drives Louisiana’s economy,” said Dawn Starns, state director of NFIB “NFIB members believe in supporting judicial candidates who will interpret our laws even-handedly and give small-business owners a fair hearing.
“Judge Castle understands what’s at stake for small business,” Starns said. “Judge Castle understands that the cost of defending itself against a single, drawn-out lawsuit could put a small business out of business, even if the courts ultimately decide in the business’ favor.
“Our members are confident that Judge Castle has the experience and temperament to fairly decide any issues that go before the state’s highest court,” Starns said.
NFIB’s political support is based on the candidate’s position and record on small-business issues. The endorsement comes from the NFIB Louisiana SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB’s membership.
Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the judge’s campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to vote. NFIB will encourage its Louisiana members to help turn out the influential small-business voting bloc on Election Day.
