SMALL BUSINESS TO LAWMAKERS: LAST PLACE FINISH IS GETTING OLD

TRENTON (September 28, 2016) In response to today’s report by the Tax Foundation that found New Jersey is projected to have the nation’s worst business climate in 2017, the following statement may be attributed to National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) New Jersey state director, Laurie Ehlbeck.

“The tax burden on small businesses in New Jersey continues to deter job creation and impede even a shred of economic progress in our state. It comes as absolutely no surprise that the Tax Foundation foresees 2017 as having no improvement when you consider that the legislature has done little to ease the concerns of small business owners. Our state has yet to recover from the great recession, but you would never know that by looking at the plethora of bad-for-business bills that continue to surface in Trenton. Lawmakers have yet to face the reality that their actions are decimating the small business sector, and until they do, we will remain at the bottom of the barrel. Quite frankly, coming in last survey after survey is getting old.”
