SMALL BUSINESS OPTIMISTIC THANKS TO STRONG HOOSIER ECONOMY

INDIANAPOLIS (July 25, 2016):  The following statement may be attributed to Barbara Quandt Underwood, Indiana state director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in response to today’s announcement that Indiana has closed out the fiscal year with a record setting surplus:

Thanks to Governor Pence’s robust leadership, Hoosiers were able to close out the fiscal year with a reserve that is the highest we have ever seen. Indiana continues to grow as a business friendly state and serve as an example for the rest of the country that reducing taxes and maintaining essential services are not mutually exclusive.

Small businesses thrive when economic conditions are predictable and consistent. When the small business community is confident in the fiscal atmosphere, more jobs are created and existing businesses expand. All Hoosiers should be proud of the legislative leaders that were bold enough to make the decisions that have resulted in beginning this new fiscal year from a position of strength and stability.
