NFIB/Texas: As Session Sine Dies, What to Watch

Date: May 17, 2017

Greetings NFIB/Texas members,

As you may know the 85th regular session of the Texas Legislature is set to adjourn “sine die,” Latin for without another day, on May 29th.

For many it couldn’t come soon enough. For NFIB/Texas we are still working good bills that will allow for the eventual elimination of the onerous state franchise tax, strong tort reform measures that will reduce the chances that you will be sued by unscrupulous trial lawyers, property tax relief and other general “good government” pro-small business measures.

Likewise now is the time for some opportunities for big government, big business, big union lobbyist shenanigans in the amendment or conference committee process. Rest assured that NFIB/Texas staff is actively lobbying for your best interests and working to ensure another strong session of the small business community in Texas. As we look forward to the end of this session I would ask you to keep up with our reports on what actually did happen and what it means to you and your business.
