Minnesota Garners C+ for Small Business Economy

Minnesota has some work to do when it comes to its small business friendliness.

If the state’s small business climate was a student, it’d be a C+ one, according to a new survey.

The 2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey ranked Minnesota across 12 metrics, from taxes to labor regulations. Of interest to small business owners, the state earned a D+ for regulations and a D+ for its tax code. Overall, the state’s small business atmosphere has deteriorated since 2012, when the survey began; that year, it earned a B.
