Iowa City Tops List for Access to Resources

Date: May 02, 2017

Iowa City is the number one city in the country for small businesses looking for access to resources according to a new survey by WalletHub. The website’s “2017’s Best & Worst Small Cities to Start a Business” survey looked at 1,261 cities around the country with a population between 25,000 and 100,000. Each city was then ranked on three major levels: business environment, access to resources, and business costs.

Iowa City was the top ranked city for access to resources, which according to WalletHub, equally consists of financing accessibility, investor access, human-resource availability, higher-education assets, workforce educational attainment, and working-age population growth.

It takes more than financing to start a small business, but Iowa City is the top place to be if you’re looking for a loan or looking for educated potential employees. With it’s number one ranking for access to resources, Iowa City was ranked 54th overall. Following close behind is West Des Moines, ranked 63rd overall. While the city doesn’t have a number one ranking in any of the categories, it is highly ranked, number 83 in business environment and number 55 in access to resources.
