Hoosier small business owners will soon pay higher prices at the pump.
On July 1, a 10 cent per gallon increase will take effect as a major source of revenue to fund $1.2 billion in an effort to improve transportation infrastructure.
“I can assure you come July, you and all of you, are going to smell asphalt morning, noon and night,” said Gov. Eric Holcomb, who called long-term transportation funding a key priority this session. Holcomb signed the bill into law on April 27.
Earlier this year, NFIB Indiana members split almost evenly on this member ballot question and therefore, NFIB Indiana does not have a position, according to State Director Barbara Underwood. Customarily, members must demonstrate a significant majority on an issue for NFIB to take a position.
In other major legislative news, Holcomb signed into law the state’s new 2-year, $32 billion budget.
