Indiana Gov. Holcomb Highlights Small Businesses

Date: February 14, 2017

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has spent the early days of his administration highlighting the role small businesses play in the state’s economy, in yet another encouraging sign for NFIB/Indiana members.

“Small businesses are both the life blood and the backbone of our economy,” Holcomb told RTV6’s Rafael Sanchez in February.

The comments come after his first State of the State address in January, in which Holcomb also touted the role of small businesses, calling them the “heart and soul” of our economy.

On a tour of small businesses in Zionsville, Holcomb stopped into a barber shop to get his haircut at a locally owned business, along with several local boutiques. So far, Holcomb has given NFIB/Indiana members every assurance that he will be a small business governor.

Holcomb added in the RTV6 interview: “I think it’s in large part of the small businesses that have shown the way to work together. It’s that leadership and partnership of the community that can really make all of the difference in the world,” he said. “They prove it can be done.”
