SMALL BUSINESS APPLAUDS CHRISTIE FOR LONG TERM THINKING, TIME FOR LEGISLATURE TO FOLLOW SUIT
Training centers are a sound investment and we certainly applaud the Governor for making the decision to focus on the long term employment sector. However, in order for our state to truly prosper, the legislature needs to take action to back up Governor Christie. The small business sector cannot focus on increasing employment when they are constantly having to look over their shoulders and worry about increasing labor costs, forever changing mandates and an unpredictable tax structure.
If lawmakers in New Jersey want to focus on truly long term job growth it’s time to repeal the estate tax and stop the partisan rhetoric surrounding increasing the minimum wage. The small business community thrives on predictability and continuity. Knowing that employers will be able to afford to retire here will keep their doors open and their employees employed far into the future. Additionally, maintaining the current minimum wage structure will allow small businesses to plan for the cost of existing employees into the future as well as leave room to create more jobs.
