Washington Congressional Guardians of Small Business Named

Date: September 21, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 21, 2016—At a ceremony held at the Capitol last week, the National Federation of Independent Business honored four Washington state representatives with Guardian of Small Business awards for their outstanding support of America’s small-business owners during the 114th Congress.
“Many elected officials claim that they are champions of small business, but our Guardian Award shows our members and other small-business owners who is really fighting for them,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan.  “Based on their voting record, these members of Congress are the most reliable advocates for small business in Washington.”
The four Guardian of Small Business award winners from Washington state were:
  • U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler
  • U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse
  • U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers
  • U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert
“We congratulate and thank these members of the Washington congressional delegation for once again earning this distinction as Guardians of Small Business for their unwavering support of our nation’s primary job creators,” said NFIB/Washington State Director Patrick Connor. “We look forward to continuing our close working relationship with them, and hope to add more Guardians to the roster from among our state’s federal delegation during the next Congress.”
The Guardian of Small Business is NFIB’s most prestigious award. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with NFIB on the key issues identified by small-business owners. NFIB tracks the votes of every member of Congress. House members and Senators who vote with NFIB members at least 70 percent of the time are eligible for the Guardian Award.
