Can Georgia Offer U.S. Economic Growth Lessons?

Date: April 19, 2017

The U.S. might want to take some notes on how to create a business-friendly climate from the Peach State.

The top rankings have been piling up in the past few years: No. 1 state for business, workforce training, and labor climate. No. 2 infrastructure and global access. In 2015, the best U.S. city to start a small business in was Alpharetta, Georgia. Kubota Manufacturing recently expanded with a facility in Gainesville-Hall County, and Star Snacks announced it will build a peanut roasting and packaging facility in Macon-Bibb County.

So, it was wise for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to include Georgia as one of five stops on its “Let’s Grow” tour earlier this year.

“During the first 100 days of the new administration, we are visiting several cities across the country and talking with business owners and policy actors at multiple levels to identify the ingredients needed for economic growth and to explore what’s possible when it’s done right,” the Chamber’s website said.

Let’s hope lawmakers in Washington follow Georgia’s example to make the U.S. friendlier to business owners nationwide.
