BRANSTAD EMPOWERS SMALL BUSINESS BY SIGNING BILL

Date: February 17, 2017

DES MOINES (February 17, 2017): In response to Governor Branstad signing a bill into law that will limit negotiations for non-public safety workers to wages only, the following statement may be attributed to National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa State Director, Matt Everson:

Governor Branstad has proven time and time again that he passionately supports the small business community in Iowa. His action today solidifies his legacy as a pro-growth, no-nonsense Governor. Public unions held tremendous political power over our state government for far too long. By signing today’s bill, labor costs will be reduced and the burden on our taxpayers, including small business owners, will be dramatically diminished.

We thank the Governor for his leadership on this issue, and on countless others in the past. Small business owners in Iowa have been privileged by his advocacy efforts for decades. Governor Branstad is spending the final year of his administration punctuating a gubernatorial career that continues to succeed in putting the best interests of our state ahead of political expediency.
