In the wake of the August 30 Primary Election, SAFE Trust (Save America’s Free Enterprise), the political action committee for the Arizona arm of the National Federation of Independent Business, has added the following candidates to the list of candidates for the Legislature it is backing in the Senate and House:
Senate
  • Legislative District 5—Rep. Sonny Borrelli
  • Legislative District 18—Frank Schmuck
House
  • Legislative District 14—Drew John
  • Legislative District 14—Becky Nutt
NFIB/Arizona SAFE Trust-backed candidates Ross Groen and Matt Morales, both running for seats in the Arizona House of Representatives, were unsuccessful in their Primary Election campaigns.
The revised endorsement list now brings to 53 the number of incumbents and challengers endorsed by NFIB for the Arizona Senate (18 candidates) and Arizona House of Representatives (35 candidates) The list of all 53 candidates can be read here. NFIB has 350,000 members nationwide, including more than 6,000 in Arizona.
“We’re very selective in whom we back,” said Farrell Quinlan, NFIB’s Arizona state director. “All of our endorsed candidates either have a voting record to prove their appreciation, or a fundamental understanding, that a small business is not a smaller version of a big business, but instead is much more affected by regulations and tax increases.”
