Date: January 09, 2017

Gov. Doug Ducey shows no sign of slackening in his crusade to rid Arizona of “outdated regulations standing in the way of economic growth and job creation.”

cutting red tapeOn January 9, he announced the launch of a special website, RedTape.AZ.Gov, empowering Arizonans “to make recommendations about how to update our state’s regulatory system,” according to a news release issued by his office, which called it a way to “crowd-source regulations to be cut.”

Farrell Quinlan, NFIB’s Arizona state director, praised the governor’s latest initiative. “Governor Ducey is again proving his commitment to lifting the regulatory burden off small businesses’ shoulders. RedTape.AZ.gov promises to give our job-creators a powerful new tool to identify and rollback job-killing rules that no longer serve to advance the health and safety of the Arizona people.”

The governor said that “decades of overreach by government and special interest groups have left burdensome regulations scattered throughout the economy. Finding them can sometimes feel like an expensive scavenger hunt that our small businesses simply can’t afford. This innovative program will decrease the time and energy it takes to clear out old regulations … There’s not a regulation too small or rule too out of date … You send it and we’ll see it.”
