Date: March 28, 2017

Learn what's ahead for the small-business economy at April 12 luncheon

Where is the economy headed? Two nationally prominent economists who have been measuring it for years will offer their crystal ball gaze at a luncheon in Phoenix on Wednesday, April 12.

NFIB members are invited to attend free of charge, courtesy of Visa and NFIB. Registration is required and can be made online right here. Seating is limited, so act now. For further information, send an email to NFIB Grassroots Manager Melissa Keckler.

The economists are:

  • Wayne Best, chief economist for Visa, Inc., who is internationally renowned for his insights into the consumer’s ability to spend, save, and pay down debt. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Strategic Foresight Community and produces Visa’s business and economic insights reports.
  • William Dunkelberg, who has been the chief economist for the National Federation of Independent Business, America’s voice of small business, since 1971 and for 43 of those years has produced a monthly Small Business Economic Trends report, which is considered by administration officials, Congressional leaders, the Federal Reserve, and all state governments to be the national barometer of the small-business economy. The latest SBET will have been released the day before the lunch.

A one-page bio of Dunkelberg can be read here. A one-page bio of Wayne Best here.

  • Visa is a global payments technology company that connects consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments in more than 200 countries and territories to fast, secure and reliable digital currency. Underpinning digital currency is one of the world’s most advanced processing networks–VisaNet–that is capable of handling more than 10,000 transactions a second, with fraud protection for consumers and guaranteed payment for merchants. Visa is not a bank and does not issue cards, extend credit or set rates and fees for consumers. Visa’s innovations, however, enable its financial institution customers to offer consumers more choices: Pay now with debit, ahead of time with prepaid, or later with credit products. • NFIB is America’s largest small-business association with 325,000 dues-paying members across the nation, including 5,500 in Arizona. NFIB’s life-long educational mission is to remind state and federal policymakers that small businesses are not smaller versions of big businesses, but instead have different challenges in remaining solvent. More information about NFIB and small business can be read at this online Small Business Media Kit.

NFIB hopes to see you there.
