Beware of Bogus Compliance Notice

Date: May 25, 2016

Business owners are being warned to watch out for a bogus “Annual Minutes Compliance Notice.”

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors issued the alert on May 25, after a contractor received the suspicious letter in the mail.

“In researching the solicitation,” the registrar said in a news release, “the ROC found that in early-April, the Arizona Corporation Commission warned of similar solicitations from a company called ‘Compliance Filings Service’ being sent to Arizona companies.

“According to ACC’s website, the solicitation is not from them and advises there is no statutory requirement that ‘annual minutes’ be filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission. According to the Commission, ‘Compliance Filings Service’ is not affiliated with the Arizona Corporation Commission in any way and suggests that if you have any questions about your corporation’s record to please call their Customer Service Call Center at 602-542-3026.”

The registrar issued the following example of what the bogus compliance notice looks like.
