As Amazon Gold Rush Plays Out, Arizona Stays Committed to Small Business

Date: October 17, 2017

Ducey: Small businesses just as important to lure to the state.

Every city and state in the country wants a shot at landing Amazon’s so-called HQ2, its second headquarters. Arizona is no different, according to remarks made by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, according to the Associated Press.

But as other cities and states put together give-away-the-store economic incentive packages that could adversely impact their economies in the long run, Ducey is preaching caution while extolling the value of small businesses, which make up the vast majority—97.1 percent—of the state’s economy.

“Ducey said the state will ‘put our best foot forward’ but noted that luring small businesses can be just as important,” reported the AP.
