Arizona Garners B+ for small business economy

Date: November 01, 2017

If Arizona’s small business climate was a student, it’d be a B+ one, according to a new survey.

The 2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey ranked Arizona 27 out of 50 across 12 metrics, from taxes to labor regulations, scoring a B+ for overall friendliness.

Of interest to small business owners, the state earned a B- for regulations and a B- for its tax code.

“The small business owners we heard from in Arizona were 1% more positive about their state’s support for small businesses than the national average, leading to their B+ grade overall,” said Thumbtack Economist Lucas Puente, PhD. “And compared to nearby states, such as New Mexico (F) and Utah (A+), Arizona had mixed results.”
