Avoid tax hikes on small businesses
With decisions from the state supreme court striking down the 2/3rds vote requirement to raise taxes and directing the Legislature to spend billions more on education, you can be sure lawmakers will be pushing massive new tax and spending hikes in 2017. NFIB will be at the forefront defending small businesses and the families you employ from policies that would kill jobs and cripple our economy.

Stop additional workplace mandates
NFIB continuing the fight against:
  • mandatory and cost-prohibitive minimum wage increases
  • paid sick and vacation leave mandates
  • leave mandates for children’s school programs
  • and other costly labor regulations that interfere with your ability to develop policies that work best for you and your employees, and still allow you to earn a fair profit.
Prevent 10 year workers’ compensation rate surcharge
Small-business owners still face the prospect of a decade’s worth of rate surcharges to rebuild $2 billion in reserves squandered by past administrations. NFIB will continue leading the fight to win legislative and administrative reforms to improve the financial condition of the state-run workers’ compensation monopoly and ensure injured workers receive timely, appropriate care so they can return to work.
